Moving On is an EP about moving from one status quo in life to the next. It has a positive theme of anticipation for transitioning to the next step in your journey, that euphoric feeling when you let go of all the anxiety and worry, and embrace the chorus that is to come, diving head on into it with enthusiasm. It celebrates that new job, a fostering hobby, the passionate chase of something you thought to be impossible becoming just the opposite.
For me personally, that new norm is developing my musical passion into a hopeful career pursuit. The EP was made before and during my first semester of a full time music production course. By taking the night time classes each day of the school-week, I have the opportunity to learn and grow as much as I can in my favourite thing to do, making music. I think this three track EP really personifies the feeling I get from this education in the most accurate medium possible.
Let's go over the tracks!
The Short Snake's Journey Through The Galactic Worm Cave:
This song was made using presets made by peers for a class project. It's a silly and nonsensical song that I had fun making every second. It's short, it's snappy, it's charming. A song I'll never forget.
Moving On:
The titular track embodies the core theme of this record, Moving from one norm to the next, and taking it on with no hesitation. You're going where you feel called to go and no one or no thing is gonna stop you now. uplifting chippy synths and airy background vocals set the scene of optimism and joy.
Chorus Of The Stars:
whereas track 1 celebrates the journey, the final song on the album (arguably the best one in my opinion) gives light to the destination. That comfortable dreamlike place you can call your new home. When the stars align and the goals you have been working towards are finally coming to fruition, and all that hard work and dedication is paying off. I think making a progressive, trancey tune encapsulates these feelings well.
And that's Moving On, I hope you enjoy these three fun, dancey songs!
